Adowa - Ghana Carved drums with peg tuning. This is a complete set including Apentema, Apetia, Atumpan, and Fromtomfrom. The Fromtomfrom and Atumpan are headed with cowskin. The others are headed with antelope skin. Large Picture.
Ashiko - Mali A cone shaped drum made out of wood staves. Traditionally covered with goat skin. It has a low resonant bass tone when hit in the middle, and a high pitch tone on the rim. Large Picture.
Atsimevu - Ghana This drum is about 4.5 feet tall. It is covered with deer or antelope skin. It is usually tilted on a stand called a Vudetsi. Played with the hands or a stick. Large Picture.
