Description: This instrument came from a common device used back in the day. It literally was used to scrub clothes. It had a very unique sound and was quickly added to the musicians collection of sound effect instruments. You simply run your fingers, finger nails, a piece of metal or wood down the ribs of the washboard to  add a rattle-type sound.

Description: A set of two gourd bowls, with the base gourd larger than the top gourd. The base gourd sits in a cane ring base, and is filled with water. The top gourd is then placed upside down so as to float in the water. The top gourd is then tapped with the fingers, palms, or light mallets to produce a unique sound, especially in a group.
